# Installer Verification

How to verify your installation of Nova Spektr!

When you download an installation of Nova Spektr from the official website or GitHub, checking the file checksum provides a way to confirm that the file you received is identical to the one that was originally uploaded to the official website or GitHub.

## This is important for several reasons:

### **Data integrity**

By comparing the checksum of the downloaded file with the provided checksum value, you can ensure that the file has not been tampered with or modified. Even small changes to a file can have significant consequences, such as introducing malware or compromising the functionality of Nova Spektr.

### **Data transmission errors**

During the process of downloading a file, errors can occur that result in data corruption. Checking the file checksum allows you to detect such errors and identify whether the downloaded file is complete and accurate. If the checksum does not match, it indicates that the file is not identical to the original one, and you may need to re-download it.

### **Authenticity verification**

Verifying the file checksum can help you confirm the authenticity of the file. It helps prevent the installation of malicious or modified versions of Nova Spektr.

# Polkadot Vault Wallet

All about using Polkadot Vault with Nova Spektr

{% hint style="info" %}
The information contained in this section of the wiki is only relevant if you are using Polkadot Vault version **6.3.0** or above.

If you are using an older version of Polkadot Vault, please refer to [Polkadot Vault Wallet \[Legacy\]](/wallet-management/polkadot-vault-wallet-legacy).
{% endhint %}

[Polkadot Vault](https://signer.parity.io/) (Formerly Parity Signer) is a cold storage solution that allows you to turn your iOS or Android device into a dedicated hardware wallet for Polkadot, Kusama, and other Substrate-based chains. Your keys are kept secure (i.e. offline) at all times, and transactions are signed in an air-gapped way via QR codes.&#x20;

{% hint style="info" %}
The device on which you install Nova Spektr has to have a **camera** so that it can scan QR codes. This can be a laptop camera or an external webcam.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="warning" %}
It is important to note that the device which has Polkadot Vault installed on it should be:

1. **Factory Reset to remove any previous data**
2. **Disconnected from the internet**
3. **Set to airplane mode**

If you turn off airplane mode, connect to the internet, or plug in your Polkadot Vault device to a computer that has internet access after setting up your Polkadot Vault you will need to repeat the process of installing and setting up Polkadot Vault.
{% endhint %}

It is recommended to carry out the following when using Polkadot Vault with Nova Spektr:

1. Import your derivation paths when pairing with Polkadot Vault.
2. Export your derivation paths as a text file to make recovering them easier in the future.

# FAQ

Polkadot Vault Common FAQs

<details>

<summary>What are Dynamic Derivations?</summary>

Dynamic Derivations are a feature supported by Nova Spektr and Polkadot Vault. Derivation paths basically let you create and manage several accounts on the same network using the same seed phrase. You can think of derived accounts as the child accounts of the root account which is created using the original mnemonic seed phrase.

The Dynamic Derivations system allows you to easily create multiple derived accounts within Nova Spektr. You can export a .yaml file containing only the derivation path keys which allows you to quickly import all of your derivation paths in the event that you update your Polkadot Vault, which causes your derivation paths to be wiped.

</details>

<details>

<summary>What is a Multishard Wallet?</summary>

Nova Spektr allows you to create a set of different keys (shards) that are independent of each other but associated with each other in the Nova Spektr application for some operations.&#x20;

A sharded account consists of multiple keys (shards) numbered from 0 to the total number of shards minus 1. Each shard is created with a hard derivation path (//0, //1, //2,...,//N-1)

<details>

<summary>What are the predefined derivation paths?</summary>

When you pair a Polkadot Vault wallet with Nova Spektr you are able to quickly add some predefined derivation paths:

1. Hot – This derivation path is intended to be a hot wallet
2. Public – This derivation path is intended to be the key you use for sharing your account with other people, for example to receive tokens
3. Staking – This derivation path is intended to be the key you use for staking
4. Governance – This derivation path is intended to be the key you use for governance voting

# Polkadot Vault Wallet \[Legacy]

All you need to know about using Nova Spektr with Polkadot Vault!

[Polkadot Vault](https://signer.parity.io/) (Formerly Parity Signer) is a cold storage solution that allows you to turn your iOS or Android device into a dedicated hardware wallet for Polkadot, Kusama, and other Substrate-based chains. Your keys are kept secure (i.e. offline) at all times, and transactions are signed in an air-gapped way via QR codes.&#x20;

{% hint style="info" %}
The device on which you install Nova Spektr has to have a **camera** so that it can scan QR codes. This can be a laptop camera or an external webcam.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="warning" %}
It is important to note that the device which has Polkadot Vault installed on it should be:

1. **Factory Reset to remove any previous data**

# Derivation Paths – Add Root Key

All about derivation paths – including how to add your root key!

Polkadot Vault allows you to manage Derived Accounts. This allows you to manage several accounts on a network using the same seed. You can think of derived accounts as child accounts of the root account created using the original mnemonic seed phrase. There are different types of account derivation – hard or soft derivation.

When you add a network to an account on your Polkadot Vault device, you must provide your desired derivation path.&#x20;

## / Soft Derivation

&#x20;A soft derivation allows someone to potentially "go backwards" to figure out the initial account's private key if they know the derived account's private key. It is also possible to determine that different accounts that are generated from a seed are linked to that seed.

## // Hard Derivation

A hard derivation path does not allow either of those things – even if you know a derived private key, it is not feasible to figure out the private key of the root address, and it is impossible to prove that the first account is linked with the second.

## /// Password Derivation

In this type of derivation, if the mnemonic phrase would leak, accounts cannot be derived without the initial password. In fact, for soft- and hard-derived accounts, if someone knows the mnemonic phrase and the derivation path, they will have access to your account. For password-derived accounts, the password is applied on the derivation path. You can know the mnemonic phrase and the derivation path, but without the password, it is not possible to access the account. In mathematical terms, if we have a written derivation path and a password, we can calculate the real derivation path as f(written derivation path, password); where f is a function. We can then calculate the account key pair using f(seed, real derivation path). Note that&#x20;

{% hint style="info" %}
Unlike hard and soft derivations that can be mixed, only a single password should be specified per derivation.
{% endhint %}

## Root Key

The Root Key is basically the account generated by your seed without any derivation path associated with it. To add the Root Key you should:

{% hint style="warning" %}
The following steps need to be carried out on your **Polkadot Vault Device**.
{% endhint %}

1. Create or import an account into Polkadot Vault as detailed above.
2. Select the **Key Sets** tab.
3. Select your desired **account**.
4. Select the plus **+** icon at the top right of the screen.
5. Select the **Network** field and then Select your desired **network** in the list.
6. In the **Derivation Path** field delete all data, including any / and then Select **Done**.
7. Select **Create Derived Key**.
8. Review the message about writing down your Derivation Path then Select the **I have written down my derivation path name** field and then Select **Done** and complete the PIN / Biometry confirmation if prompted.

# Multisig Wallet

What is a multi-signature wallet and what are the two multisig wallet types?

A multisignature wallet allows users to collaboratively control their assets. A multisig wallet has a set number of signatories that must come to a consensus in order for transactions to be authorized.&#x20;

For multisig accounts information and operations exchange Nova Spektr uses [Spektr Matrix Protocol](/settings/spektr-matrix-protocol).

Nova Spektr supports all Polkadot ecosystem networks that have the multisig pallet in their runtime. Two multisig wallet types are supported: regular and flexible multisig.

| Multisig                                                                       | Flexible multisig                                                                           |

# Flexible Multisig Wallet

All about Flexible Multisigs

Flexible Multisigs are used to control an account as a group of individuals, increasing the security of the assets that it holds. Each flexible multisig wallet consists of several signatories, which can be changed at any time. Depending on the settings of the flexible multisig, either all or some of the signatories need to approve any transaction for it to execute.

Nova Spektr currently supports flexible multisigs on the following networks:

* Polkadot
* Kusama
* Polkadot Asset Hub
* Kusama Asset Hub
* Polkadot People
* Kusama People
* Polkadot Coretime
* Kusama Coretime
* Hydration
* Mythos
* Moonbeam
* Moonriver
* Bittensor
* Avail
* Aleph Zero

**Please note that Flexible Multisigs only work on the network you specified when creating the wallet.**

If you already have a flexible multisig on any of these networks, it will automatically appear in your list of wallets. A flexible multisig is considered active if it holds tokens or if at least one transaction has been initiated from it.

Below is a table of comparisons between flexible multisigs and multisig wallets:

| Flexible Multisig                                              | Multisig                                                                      |
| -------------------------------------------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- |

# Proxies

This section is all about Proxy accounts

This section goes over different types of Proxy accounts available in the Polkadot Ecosystem

## Proxied Accounts (Delegated Authorities)

Proxies are useful because they allow you to delegate another account to carry out specific actions on behalf of your primary account.&#x20;

The most common use case for proxy accounts is assigning a hot wallet as the staking proxy for your cold storage wallet. This allows you to utilize the hot wallet to carry out staking operations on behalf of your cold storage wallet such as changing your nominated validators.

Find out more [Delegated Authorities (Proxied)](/wallet-management/proxies/delegated-authorities-proxied)

## Pure Proxies

Pure Proxies are different from regular proxy accounts. With a regular proxy account, you are delegating authority for some types of transactions from your primary account to a secondary (proxy) account. Pure Proxies on the other hand are accounts that are created (not assigned) by the primary account. That primary account then acts as an Any Proxy on behalf of the Pure Proxy.

Pure Proxies are keyless non-deterministic accounts as they do not have a private key but they have an address that is randomly generated.&#x20;

# Delegated Authorities (Proxied)

All about Delegated Authotiries (Proxied) accounts

Proxies are useful because they allow you to delegate authority over certain types of transactions to another account. Rather than using a single account, you can delegate authority to multiple smaller accounts with unique roles to carry out specific actions on behalf of your primary account.

The proxy accounts can be hotter than the primary account which in most instances is likely a cold storage wallet. The proxy accounts can carry out specific operations on behalf of the primary account which adds some level of flexibility in your account management setup.

Some example use cases of Proxy accounts:

1. Setting a hot wallet as a staking proxy to your cold storage wallet so you can easily change the validators you are nominating to.
2. Setting a hot wallet as a governance proxy to your cold storage wallet so that you can more easily vote in governance.

# Pure Proxy

An intro to Pure Proxies

Pure proxies are very different from other proxy types. The proxies we described so far are *existing accounts* assigned as proxies by a primary account. These proxies act on behalf of the primary account, reducing the exposure of the primary account's private key. Remember, the more often we use an account's private key to sign transactions, the more we expose that key to the internet, increasing the visibility of that account. The purpose of a proxy is thus to draw the attention of potential attackers away from the primary account, as proxies' private keys will be used most of the time to perform actions on behalf of the primary account.

Pure proxies are new accounts that are *created* (not assigned) by a primary account. That primary account then acts as *any* proxy on behalf of the pure proxy. Pure proxies are **keyless non-deterministic accounts** as they do not have a private key but they have an address that is randomly generated. Also, in some sense, nobody owns a pure proxy as nobody has a private key to control them.

# Asset Hub Migration FAQ

KSM and DOT are moving from Kusama and Polkadot Relay Chains to Asset Hubs

#### What is Relay Chain? What is Asset Hub? <a href="#what-is-relay-chain-what-is-asset-hub" id="what-is-relay-chain-what-is-asset-hub"></a>

You probably know **Kusama Relay Chain** as just **Kusama**, and **Polkadot Relay Chain** as just **Polkadot**. Relay Chain is the "main" chain. It secures all the parachains in its ecosystem and processes cross-chain transfers between them. Relay Chain only supports its native token: KSM on Kusama Relay Chain and DOT on Polkadot Relay Chain. Before migration, most operations with KSM and DOT happened on their Relay Chains.

**Asset Hub** is a **system parachain** that supports **other tokens** in addition to KSM and DOT. You can think of it as an **extension of Relay Chain** that allows its users to create and manage other assets: stablecoins, memecoins, tokens from other chains in the Polkadot ecosystem, NFTs, etc. Each Relay Chain has its own system parachain: there's **Kusama Asset Hub** connected to Kusama Relay Chain and **Polkadot Asset Hub** connected to Polkadot Relay Chain. Before migration, Asset Hubs were mostly used for operations with tokens beyond KSM and DOT.

#### What Is Going to Change? <a href="#what-is-going-to-change" id="what-is-going-to-change"></a>

Starting from **October 7th**, your **KSM** balances, governance, and staking **migrate** from **Kusama** **Relay Chain** to **Kusama Asset Hub**.

On **November 4th**, a similar migration will happen for **DOT** from **Polkadot Relay Chain** to **Polkadot Asset Hub**.

Relay Chains will focus on securing chains, while Asset Hubs will take care of day-to-day operations: balance transfers, governance votes, delegations, and staking. Here are the key changes:

* Your **KSM/DOT** **balances** will be moved to **Asset Hub**. Your other token balances on Asset Hub will not be affected. Migrated balance will be added to any KSM/DOT you might've had on Asset Hub before migration.
* The **minimum KSM/DOT balance** your account needs to maintain will become **100 times lower**: from 0.00033 KSM to 0.0000033 KSM and from 1 DOT to 0.01 DOT.
* Any **transfers** you would usually make on Relay Chain will now happen on **Asset Hub**. Your **addresses** will remain **the** **same** as before the migration.
* Your **transaction fees** and **deposits** (e.g., for multisig operations) will become **10 times lower**, and you will be able to pay them **in any token**.
* Your **staking** setup and rewards will now be on **Asset Hub**. All your staking information will be migrated automatically. The staking UI will remain the same: you will be able to do all the same things as before the same way. Your **staking rewards** will **not be interrupted**.
* Your **governance** votes and delegations will now be on **Asset Hub**. Your past votes and delegations will be migrated automatically. The governance UI will remain the same: you will be able to do all the same things as before the same way.
* Your **crowdloaned** KSM/DOT will be migrated **later**, after your candidate's slot lease ends and your tokens are returned to you.
* Your **multisigs** and **proxies** will be **recreated** on **Asset Hub**. You will still be able to use them on Relay Chain if needed, but most operations will take place on Asset Hub. **Ongoing** **multisig transactions** will **not be migrated**, and you may want to finalize or cancel them on the Relay Chain **before the migration**.
* If you are a **validator**, you can keep validating blocks as before. You will **register your session keys** on the **Relay Chain** as before, and other staking-related actions will happen on Asset Hub.
* **Fast-unstake** will be **deprecated** after staking migrates to Asset Hub. This feature was only available to users who had **inactive stakes** for more than 7 days on the Kusama Relay Chain or 28 days on the Polkadot Relay Chain. It was never supported in Nova Spektr natively.

#### What Do I Need to Do Before the Migration? <a href="#what-do-i-need-to-do-before-the-migration" id="what-do-i-need-to-do-before-the-migration"></a>

**Nothing**! Your tokens in Nova Spektr will be migrated **automatically**; **no action needed**.

#### What Will Happen During the Migration? <a href="#what-will-happen-during-the-migration" id="what-will-happen-during-the-migration"></a>

{% hint style="success" %}
&#x20;Your funds are safe during the migration process.
{% endhint %}

The migration period is estimated to last **8 to 10 hours**. During the migration period, you may experience some interruptions:

* Your KSM/DOT **balances** may take **longer** than usual to **be updated**. **Your funds are safe!** No tokens will be lost; your balances will be updated after the migration ends.
* **Cross-chain transfers** to or from the Relay Chain and Asset Hub will be **paused** until the migration ends. **Regular transfers** within Asset Hub will **not be affected**.
* Some operations on Relay Chain will be **paused**: governance, multisig operations, proxy operations, and others. They will resume on Asset Hub after the migration ends.
* Some **centralized exchanges** may experience **delays** with processing KSM/DOT deposits and withdrawals during the migration period.

#### What Do I Need to Do After the Migration? <a href="#what-do-i-need-to-do-after-the-migration" id="what-do-i-need-to-do-after-the-migration"></a>

If you receive KSM/DOT on Relay Chain after the migration, **send** them **manually** to your own wallet on **Asset Hub.** Tokens sent on the wrong chain post-migration **will NOT be lost**.

Your staking rewards and governance votes before and after migration will be shown together in Nova Spektr. **You won't miss any staking or governance data** in Nova Spektr.

Your transfers and other operation history will be shown separately. To view your **pre-migration history**, check your Operation history on the **Relay Chain**. Your **post-migration** history will be on **Asset Hub**.

# Send Tokens

## The key thing to remember about Polkadot ecosystem tokens

Being a user of the Polkadot ecosystem means that there are lots of different types of **token standards** that you should be familiar with.

The most common user mistake in the Polkadot ecosystem is sending tokens to an exchange from the incorrect chain. For example, if you send DOT tokens from the Asset Hub parachain to a **centralized exchange** (CEX), it is <mark style="color:red;">very unlikely</mark> that you will receive your DOT tokens on the exchange.

This is because the CEX has configured their wallet to only show you DOT tokens which have been received on the Polkadot relay chain. In reality, the CEX has indeed received your DOT tokens, and they will actually be in your account (on the Asset Hub parachain), but it will likely take you a long time to convince the CEX to investigate your issue.

{% hint style="warning" %}
So, **please ensure you are sending tokens to the correct network**.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="info" %}
For demonstration purposes, we chose a [Single Polkadot Vault](/wallet-management/polkadot-vault-wallet-legacy/single-polkadot-vault-wallet) account and used the **Chain-centric** layout.
{% endhint %}

<figure><img src="https://4183353316-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FgpjHmwxjqhwNUnQJcqG2%2Fuploads%2Fwwfi6vpIRIJrvHsMXx4l%2FPortfolio%20-%20Send.avif?alt=media&amp;token=00aa6046-8abf-4a06-8f78-2243285f62b6" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

2. On the **Assets** page, select the asset you’d like to send and click on the **send icon**.
3. By default, Nova Spektr selects the destination chain to be the same as the origin chain. You can **change** the destination chain from the drop-down list.

{% hint style="warning" %}
For specific tokens, the **recipient network** selector is not visible, as cross-chain transfer has not been implemented yet.

# Staking FAQ

<details>

<summary>Does Nova Spektr Support Stash and Controller Accounts?</summary>

Nova Spektr doesn’t support Stash and Controller accounts. When you start staking with Nova Spektr the stash is the same as the controller.

Staking proxy will be implemented in further releases.

# Multisig Wallet Operations

A multisig account is a type of account that requires multiple signatures to authorize a transaction. This provides an additional layer of security and reduces the risk of unauthorized transactions.&#x20;

Multisig accounts work by requiring a predefined number of signatures from a group of authorized signatories before a transaction can be executed. For example, a 2-of-3 multisig account would require two out of three authorized signatories to sign off on a transaction before it can be executed.

The number of signatories (threshold) has to be specified, as well as the specific accounts that are authorized to sign transactions in order to create a multisig account.

# Multisig Wallet Operations FAQ

<details>

<summary>Why do I need to log in to Matrix?</summary>

Nova Spektr uses Matrix to share multisig account information and multisig transaction information (including call data) with other signatories. Signing in to Matrix is the easiest way to share this information with your fellow signatories, as all the necessary information will be automatically shared.

</details>

<details>

<summary>I created a multisig account but other signatories haven't got the invite. What may be wrong?</summary>

Please ask signatories to check if signatories’ Nova Spektr instance is logged into the Matrix. They may use the steps from the [Spektr Matrix Protocol](/settings/spektr-matrix-protocol).

</details>

<details>

<summary>Call data isn't shared with other signatories. What may be wrong?</summary>

Please ask signatories to check if signatories’ Nova Spektr instance is logged into the Matrix. They may use the steps from the [Spektr Matrix Protocol](/settings/spektr-matrix-protocol). Also please make sure that signatories use Nova Spektr but not any other application that allows them to make multisig operations.

</details>

<details>

<summary>How much multisig account creation costs?</summary>

Multisig account creation is free. You don't have to pay any fee or reserve a deposit.

</details>

<details>

<summary>What is a multisig operation deposit?</summary>

The multisig operation deposit is an amount of tokens that stays locked on the signatorie’s account until the multisig operation is executed or cancelled. The amount of deposit is different from network to network and depends on the network settings.

</details>

<details>

<summary>What is call data and what if it’s missing?</summary>

The call data is an encoded operation that will be executed when a multisig operation is signed. The network doesn’t store the call data, it stores the call hash only. The call data has to be provided by the signatory which makes a final signing so that the network will execute this operation.

</details>

<details>

<summary>What is Unknown multisig operation?</summary>

If the multisig operation was created outside the Nova Spektr then the Nova Spektr won't be able to decode it and recognise the type of the operation. In that case, the operation will be shown as an Unknown operation.

An Unknown operation may be signed, cancelled and executed as all other multisig operations.

</details>

<details>

<summary>What is Established multisig operation status?</summary>

If the multisig operation was signed outside the Nova Spektr then the Nova Spektr won't be able to recognise the outcome of the multisig operation. The multisig operation may be failed, be executed or be cancelled. You can check the operation in the block explorer in order to get the multisig operation execution result.

# External Contact Management

Nova Spektr supports a remote contact management system that allows organizations to maintain a centralized, shared address book. Instead of each user manually managing contacts locally, teams can connect to a sync service that provides a single source of truth for contact data across the Polkadot and Kusama ecosystems.

### Overview

The remote contact management system extends Nova Spektr's built-in address book with an external sync service. Once connected, contacts from the sync service appear alongside locally created contacts in a unified interface. Sync service contacts are read-only within the application. All modifications are managed through the sync service or its admin dashboard.

Key capabilities of the remote system include organizing contacts by entities, categories, chains, and custom tags, role-based access control with granular permissions, wallet-signature authentication (no passwords required), on-chain proxy relationship tracking, multisig account support with signatory and threshold data, bulk import and export of contacts, and a full audit trail of all changes.

### How It Works

#### Connecting to a sync service

1. **Configure the sync service URL.** In the Address Book page, click the sync service configuration button and enter the URL of your organization's address book sync service. Nova Spektr will verify the service is reachable.
2. **Authenticate with your wallet.** The system uses a challenge-response protocol - no passwords are involved. You select one of your accounts, the sync service sends a cryptographic challenge, you sign it with your wallet, and the sync service verifies the signature to establish a session.
3. **Contacts sync automatically.** Once authenticated, sync service contacts are fetched and displayed in the "External Source" tab of your address book. Syncing happens automatically on login and can be triggered manually at any time. A sync status indicator shows the current state.

1. Enable and disable networks.
2. Presets of **RPC nodes** for all networks.
3. **Custom** RPC nodes.
4. **Light Clients** for Polkadot & Kusama.

Please check the table below for a detailed explanation of Connection types.

<table data-full-width="false"><thead><tr><th>Connection type</th><th>What does it mean</th><th>Available for chains</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>Auto Balance (default connection type)</td><td>Select one of the RPC nodes for connection. If the RPC connection fails then select another node and set the connection.</td><td>All</td></tr><tr><td>RPC node</td><td>Connect to the concrete RPC node. If connection fails the Nova Spektr attempts to reconnect to the selected RPC node.</td><td>All</td></tr><tr><td>Light Client</td><td>Use Light Client (<a href="https://wiki.polkadot.network/docs/build-substrate">Substrate Connect</a>) for the network connection.</td><td>Polkadot, Kusama</td></tr></tbody></table>

To open network management, click on the **Settings** in the main menu and then open the **Network** item.

# Check Network Connections

On the Network management screen, the list of all supported networks is split into **Disabled Networks** and **Active Networks**. You can search for the network by typing in the Search bar.

### All the networks in the Disabled list are not connected.

It means that Nova Spektr doesn’t get any information from this network and is not able to send transactions to this network.

<div align="left"><figure><img src="https://4183353316-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FgpjHmwxjqhwNUnQJcqG2%2Fuploads%2F0KgjxKn4nN54cuAquuLE%2FCheck%20Network%20Connections%20-%20Disabled%20List.png?alt=media&amp;token=1b19b730-5820-4935-90c9-2ad56d25831e" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

### Active Network list contains the networks that are connected.

For each network, the status is shown:

# Light Clients and Parachain Data Verification

A light client lets you utilize all basic features of the chain such as fetching data and transferring tokens, but it does not require you to run a full copy of the entire blockchain or have to trust remote peers. Light clients fetch the required data that they need from a node with an associated proof to validate the data.

The light client connection type may be used only for Polkadot and Kusama in the current version of the Nova Spektr application.

If Polkadot or (and) Kusama are connected with Light clients then for their parachains [Parachain Data verification ](https://github.com/novasamatech/omni-research-docs/tree/main/parachain-data-verification)is running. Parrachain Data Verification uses trusted data from relay chains (Polkadot, Kusama) to verify data from parachain remote nodes. This approach increases the reliability, security and sustainability of the parachain RPC connection.

### If you’d like to turn on Light Client for Polkadot and (or) Kusama then:

<div align="left"><figure><img src="https://4183353316-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FgpjHmwxjqhwNUnQJcqG2%2Fuploads%2F8TAaYxZetAgtHuYDBQsv%2FSettings%20-%20Network%20Management%20-%20Light%20Clients.avif?alt=media&amp;token=8b4fbfee-52d3-4cb4-ace1-6e0a608a13dc" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

1. Open the **Network Management**.
2. Click on the **dropdown menu** for the Polkadot or Kusama.
3. In the dropdown menu select **Light Client**.
4. Wait until the Light Client is starting.
