# Multishard Polkadot Vault Wallet

A **Multishard wallet** — is a wallet that contains one or more root key(s) and each root key contains more than 1 derived account (using derivation paths) for at least 1 network.

Due to security reasons, a user’s funds may be distributed between multiple accounts managed by Polkadot Vault. The usual number of shards is around 20-45. Nova Spektr application allows to manage multishard wallets and make multishard operations.
