# Export Derivation Path Keys

{% hint style="warning" %}
Nova Spektr does not store your private keys, and as a result, this means that exporting your derivation path keys does not export your private key.

Only public keys and derivation paths are exported during this process.
{% endhint %}

This article explains how to export your derivation path keys as a file. This file can then be used later to re-import your derivation paths into Polkadot Vault.

1. Open the Nova Spektr Application.
2. **Select** the wallets dropdown located at the top left of the screen.
3. Navigate your cursor over your **desired Polkadot Vault wallet** then click on the **information icon** at the right.
4. You will now see the **details** of your Polkadot Vault wallet, including all the derivation paths.
5. Select the **3 horizontal dots** at the top right corner then choose **Export keys.**
6. Select **Download as txt-file**.
7. **Save** the file in your desired location. Keep it safe as you can later use this to re-import your derivation paths.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.novaspektr.io/wallet-management/polkadot-vault-wallet/export-derivation-path-keys.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
